Catholic Church Sends Out DVDs In Minnesota

On September 19, 2010, the Catholic Church in Minnesota announced that Catholics would receive a DVD and letter explaining the dangers related to the legal recognition of same-sex marriage. Additionally, the church is using this opportunity to remind parishioners of the official stance as it relates to same-sex marriage.

Here’s a YouTube clip from one of the DVDs. It’s starts out with the text, “An Important Message from Archbishop John C. Nienstedt,” and goes on to explain how dangerous gay marriage really is:

At best, so-called same-sex marriage, is an untested social experiment and at worse, it poses a dangerous risk with potentially far-reaching consequences.

The video attempts to stir the pot by telling Catholics that by allowing same-sex marriage, our government would be officially declaring that children no longer need a mom and dad:

…so-called same-sex marriage would certainly be a declaration by the government that we have officially abandoned the idea that children need both a mom and a dad.

Once they explain how dangerous same-sex marriage would be for Minnesota and attempt to rally the troops by stirring the pot, they make it known that it’s time for Minnesota to speak out:

31 states have passed marriage amendments and it’s time for Minnesotans to have their say.

The video itself is about 6 minutes long if you can make it through. There are some other gems that I’ll probably post as quotes over the next few weeks.
