In an opinion piece published by HibbingMN.com, Phil Scalise speaks out against the amendment.
This amendment is hurtful to committed same-sex couples. It is hurtful because it singles out a certain group of people, namely committed same-sex couples.
Chances are you know someone who is gay or lesbian. Could one be your son or daughter, brother or sister, aunt or uncle, cousin, friend or neighbor?
Chances are that person would feel hurt if this amendment passes.
Marriage is about love and commitment; no one would want to be told that it is illegal to marry the person they love.
