Ok, I admit, this is a long shot. But after working as hard as we have to defeat this mean-spirited amendment, I’m not leaving any stone unturned. I don’t want to wake up on November 7th and think, “What if we had…”

So, about a month ago, I emailed Ellen via her web site with a simple ask: To help get the word out about why voting NO is so important in Minnesota this NOvember. I’ve included the letter below.

Hi Ellen and Team! There’s a big fight going on in Minnesota right now and it’s going to come to a head this November. You see, Minnesota voters will decide on whether or not the state constitution should be amended to allow only opposite-sex marriage. It’s being done in the vein of “protecting traditional marriage,” but in reality, it’s just another way for same-sex marriage opponents to bully us, and I won’t stand for it.

To do my small part, I’ve been blogging since December about news stories, videos and even links to send “thank yous” to companies that have taken a public stand against this mean-spirited amendment.

But I know we can still do more; we have to. As you have talked about, the tide is changing in America. In Minnesota, we have a real chance of being the first state to defeat one of these amendments, which, in itself, would send a powerful message to the entire nation.

I’m sure that many people ask of your time and many of their causes are far greater than mine. However, I know that the fight for equality is something you’ve been part of for many years. It would be great if you could film a spot, a YouTube clip or even just send a tweet to your followers encouraging them to stand with Minnesota this fall and encourage Minnesotans to Vote NO on discrimination.

I truly believe that we can defeat this amendment – but only if we can spread the word. Your help would be so appreciated.
