Last week, another major Minnesota institution, the Mayo Clinic, confirmed publicly that it will not take a stand on the marriage amendment:
While we will not take a public position on the November 2012 ballot issue to amend the Minnesota Constitution, we encourage staff to express their personal views through voting.
Mayo Spokersperson, Karl W. Oestreich
Oestreich also had this to say on the matter:
Diversity and inclusiveness are essential to the success of Mayo Clinic…
Words that fall flat in light of the organization’s neutral stance.
