Remember that scary group that I’ve posted about a couple times called the National Organization for Marriage (NOM)? As I continue to learn more about this organization, I become more and more concerned that they are lending their voice to the Minnesota marriage amendment fight.

In September of last year, the organization blogged about a study promoting “ex-gay” therapy. Even though this type of study has been refuted by the major medical associations in America, NOM is promoting this study. And why wouldn’t they, with results like these:

The results show change to be possible for some, and the attempt not harmful on average.

What exactly does “not harmful on average” mean? Scary and sad at the same time. Preying on susceptible individuals and families that are already struggling; it’s shameful.

I’ll continue to share additional learnings on this organization as well as how they’re playing in the Minnesota marriage amendment space.
