In February, I blogged about how the Minneapolis Evangelical Lutheran Church in American (ELCA) voted to oppose the marriage amendment on the ballot this fall. In late April, the Northeastern Minnesota Synod of the ELCA met and passed a similar resolution:
…the Northeastern Minnesota Synod in Assembly affirm its welcome, care for and support same-gender couples and their families and oppose legislation or public policies that would prevent same-gender couples and their families from pursuing ordinary legislative or legal means to gain the support and protections afforded to all others.
Click through to read the entire post from Bishop Thomas M. Aitken. In his letter, he shares that there may be disagreement around scripture, but reminds his parishioners that in St. Paul’s letter to the Corinthians, scripture reminds each of us that “no one of us knows all the answers, we know only in part in this life.”
A very nicely written letter. And yet another religious group coming out against this mean-spirited amendment.
