In a Post Bulletin letter to the editor entitled, “Vote no in defense of all families,” Rochester resident, Shirley J. Ackerman, reminds us all of the golden rule:
…here in Minnesota, we can all agree on one thing — the importance of treating others the way we would want to be treated.
We need to remember this golden rule. We need to decide whether we are willing to exclude some people from the freedom to make a lifetime promise of love and commitment simply because they are gay.
None of us would want to be told it is illegal to marry the person you love! Begin having conversations about this freedom-limiting amendment with friends, family and neighbors. Come November, I trust that Minnesotans will stand in defense of all families. Vote NO!
Shirley, I’ll be voting NO with you!
