Minnesota Marriage Amendment

Information, facts and articles related to the vote on Marriage that will appear on Minnesotan's ballots in 2012.

Supporters accuse NO side of “stalking”

This past weekend, I shared a link to the new kNOw Tool that Minnesotans United released. The tool allows users to identify their Facebook friends and indicate how they are voting on the mean-spirited marriage amendment. It also allows folks to call friends or family members to discuss the amendment and help understand their reasoning for voting one way or the other.

Think of it as a mini phone bank operation – just much safer as it only includes your Facebook friends!

Well, Minnesota for Marriage isn’t too pleased about this tool. On Wednesday, spokesperson Autumn Leva had this to say:

For those who support the Minnesota Marriage Protection Amendment, this is simple harassment.

According to the official statement on the Minnesota for Marriage website:

Campaign Opposed to Marriage Amendment Uses Social Media Site to Stalk Marriage Amendment Supporters

After all of this discussion, I decided to check out the tool tonight. I was able to identify friends, select if I knew how they were voting and even call them I if I wanted to talk about the amendment. There didn’t appear to be any sinister behind the scenes things taking place while I was in the tool. I have to agree with Kate Brickman, spokesperson for Minnesotans United for All Families when she said that the claims of stalking are “an outrageous lie.”

Just another example of the extremes amendment supporters will go to in order to rally their troops. Sadly, there will be much more to come.
